Rome has had its own Palazzo Montemartini since September

Last September, after a long wait, Palazzo Montemartini finally opened its doors in the Castro Pretorio neighbourhood, in front of the Baths of Diocletian and a short stroll from Termini Station. Rome’s new five-star hotel, part of the Ragosta Collection, is a perfect blend of opposites. On one hand, it has all the classic elements you would expect to find in a period dwelling, such as marble and stucco-work, and on the other, it has comfort and design with a contemporary impact, and is oriented towards energy saving and eco-compatibility, building automation and smart apps. Palazzo Montemartini is a quick-change artist of a hotel, where the rooms – all completely sound-proofed – are easily transformed into other solutions, depending on requirements. The five business junior suites have private meeting rooms in the event that the hotel’s four convention areas are not sufficient, and its 300-square-metre Penthouse Suite is also available for private events. Water is a distinguishing feature. Not only in the exclusive spa, whose design was inspired by the baths of Ancient Rome, but also and especially where you least expect it: in the Sense Lounge restaurant. This is a unique setting, converted from what was once the ticket office of the city’s public transport company, ATAC. It is an authentic exaltation of the 5 senses. All different, the 82 rooms and 3 suites are themed. Particularly charming are those on the first floor, which have managed to preserve the original atmosphere of the edifice intact. As its slogan promises, Palazzo Montemartini, the fourth hotel in the Ragosta Collection, truly is “like no other”. Plus, it is the only building in all Rome to be traversed by the Servian Wall, erected in the 4th century B.C.
