Maurizio Di Maggio is an Italian journalist and radio presenter. A nomad in his spirit, he stays in the same place as little as possible, is the best description we can give. His passion for travelling has brought him to all 5 continents and in collecting his experiences, he has invented a radio format that speaks about travel, which he has been constantly improving since 1969.
His many activities include:

  • A discotheque DJ since 1978, he concluded his long career at the turntables of Jimmy’z in Monte Carlo having worked on cruise liners as an entertainer and DJ together with Piero Chiambretti, Mario Zucca and others;
  • he has also worked on several record productions: in 1982 he published Space Operator by 4M International for Goody Music. In 1984 with Disc8 he published Fly To America by Red Gang, with whom he performed that same summer on Drive In (Italia 1) and Discoring (Raiuno). In 1995, after a stint in London where he met Eddie Piller (Acid Jazz Records) and Gilles Peterson (Talkin’ Loud Records), he recorded a double album titled Trip-Tik under the pseudonym Ciconio with the collaboration of Paolo Ricca, published by Flying Records.

 

Awards

  • During the BIT 2005 he received the Premio Colombo from Federalberghi, which is reserved for journalists who have distinguished themselves in promoting proximity tourism;
  • On 15 June 2009 and 19 June 2018, he won the ADUTEI – Association of Delegates of Foreign Tourism Offices in Italy – award in the radio category.

His commitments

He is on air on Radio Monte Carlo from Monday to Friday 8 pm to 10 pm, and Sunday from 4 pm to 7 pm.

He collaborates with the TV at Centre de Presse de Monaco, producing a weekly programme in Italian, MC Info.
