Ever since the birth of my niece Ludovica, who is now 4 years old, I have been an enthusiastic full-time aunt for one week each year: I accompany her and my sister to the seaside!
This year we went to Rimini, and because we had both been very busy with work, we decided to treat ourselves: so… Savoia Hotel Rimini, a symbol of hospitality in Rimini for more than 20 years.
Holiday happiness
Facing the sea, its rather unusual architecture and contemporary taste stand out from the Rimini seafront. It reconfirms the Romagna hospitality that greets you on your arrival and stays with you for your entire holiday. Here, in addition to the warmth of the personnel, the manager is ever-present, and he personally tends to and pampers guests with devoted attention. It takes just over two hours to get to Rimini from Milan on the FrecciaRossa train: truly fantastic. And now we are in our wonderful, spacious deluxe room with twin queen-size beds and white organza drapes dividing the bedroom area from the entrance hall – wardrobe. We lounge around on the terrace, all three of munching tasty cherries and apricots and admiring the immensity of the sea and the long beach festooned with colourful umbrellas. Then we go back into the room, and while Ludovica reads the instructions for a treasure hunt that will lead her to find the first of a series of presents the hotel has hidden for her, from buckets and spades to various sandcastle moulds, my sister and I bustle about unpacking, and preparing the bags for the beach, and putting away our clothes, and slipping into something that makes us look less like people just arrived from the city. A dash of cream for the little one, a touch up to the lip-gloss for us.
And we’re off!
It’s great fun taking the lift here, because it is panoramic. And also because the hotel team has prepared a very entertaining video in which, to a musical background of Pharrell Williams’s hit song Happy, everyone showcases his or her daily activities through song and dance. I think it will become the soundtrack to our holiday. Ah yes! The Savoia has won us over immediately with its charm, its fragrance, and the numerous activities it proposes: the first floor of the hotel has a wing entirely given over to the wellness centre, the pool with a sea view, and the wet zone. Aldo Coppola has been styling hair in his Salon here for the last few months.
Pure relaxation
For lovers of physical activity like me, aside from running along the seashore, there is also the opportunity to take a few lessons with a personal trainer, who, I am told, could even become a long-distance tutor after I return to Milan. The innumerable delicacies I hurry to relish at breakfast on the extraordinary terrace or at dinner in the elegant Soleiado Restaurant, and stopping off at the Dolce Vita beach for lunch, all start to make me think that a spot of exercise wouldn’t go amiss … But I’m not in the mood for making good resolutions, much less plans. Enough! I’m on holidays and I shall do as I please, pampering myself with little luxuries, gourmet treats, relaxing or shopping between playing with Ludovica and a dip with the inflatable penguins, the new craze for summer 2014. One thing is for sure; I’ll be back to the Savoia!
