2023 Michelin Stars, gourmet experience and new Green Stars

The 2023 Michelin Stars have been awarded.
In the gourmet firmament there are many excellent confirmations which are flanked by the new entries.
Absolute novelty of this edition, the introduction of the new Green Stars
that distinguish restaurateurs who are particularly committed to sustainability.
As always, many award-winning chefs and restaurants in the hôtellerie,
Good food and hospitality, for sublime taste experiences.

The firmament of Italian cuisine is underpinned by novelties: these are the 2023 Michelin Stars, the prestigious award that celebrates the best Italian restaurants and the work of their chefs. Among the names include real celebrities of gastronomy such as Antonino Cannavacciuolo, there are great returns such as chef Mantarro at the Prince Cerami of Taormina, and the green soul of those who, in addition to flavors, pay great attention to sustainability are still enhanced.
Among the awarded with the 2023 Michelin Stars there are several restaurants located in prestigious hotels and resorts, a brilliant mélange that combines the warmth of Italian hospitality with the taste of ‘well done’ even at the table: among these we find the Cannavacciuolo Vineyard , an almost fairytale resort accompanied by a wine estate immersed in the atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside, together with Villa Crespi – a 5-star luxury hotel on Lake Orta – which always illuminates Cannavacciuolo with 3 stars.

But the Michelin Guide also takes us elsewhere, to other crossroads of good food and hôtellerie. So let’s find out with HotelmyPassion some addresses to put in the bucket list of experiences to plan in the coming months.

Nove, Villa della Pergola (Relais & Châteaux ), Liguria

The 2023 Michelin Stars dot the sky of Alassio. The Nove restaurant in Villa della Pergola reconfirms its star and maintains its role as a reference in the exclusive list of Michelin-starred restaurants of the Relais & Châteaux family. To be honored is the talent of the young Chef Giorgio Pignagnoli, already awarded in October with the ‘Best Chef UNDER 35’ of Food & Wine Italia as part of the Best Chef Awards 2022. The cuisine of Nove tells the soul of this region and it allows itself to be contaminated by the influences of neighboring France, a local vocation with an international and contemporary vision.
For Villa della Pergola this is a successful bet, 2022 is coming to an end and brings with it the taste for success, that of having been able to masterfully express the essence of Liguria and its philosophy of hospitality and territory.

Il Poggio Rosso, Borgo San Felice (Relais & Châteaux), Tuscany

Another confirmation for the Relais & Châteaux group, the 2023 Michelin Stars do not give up Il Poggio Rosso di Borgo San Felice. The restaurant, led by Chef Juan Quintero, also wins the Michelin Green Star which emphasizes the chef’s commitment to sustainability in line with the entire company philosophy. An avant-garde work aimed at reducing waste and reducing the environmental impact, a factor that is increasingly crucial in a historical moment in which the state of emergency to save our planet is global in scope, as well as a deeply felt issue. Borgo San Felice, a 5-star widespread hotel immersed in the iconic Sienese countryside, the only Relais & Châteaux in the Chianti Classico area and at the same time a Wine Resort, has been investing for years in favor of sustainability. It does so with concrete projects and that of the restaurant contributes daily with actions ranging from the choice of seasonal raw materials and zero-kilometer suppliers to the disposal, reuse and recycling of waste up to the dedication to the quality of life of the staff and the support to a series of social initiatives.

Campo del Drago, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco (Rosewood Hotels & Resorts), Tuscany

Chef Matteo Temperini makes the Campo del Drago restaurant shine. Therefore, the first Michelin Star arrives for the medieval village of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, a magical place in the Montalcino countryside where you can taste a gourmet cuisine made of local ingredients, of intimate and suggestive atmospheres. The recognition is the result of a path made of passion and dedication, an impeccable teamwork that translates into a real pride, the one that unites the talent of the restaurant team and therefore the extraordinary culinary experience, but also the beauty of the destination in the heart of the Val d’Orcia and clearly all the elegance of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts that is perfectly embodied in the claim A Sense of Place.

The Michelin Green Stars

They debuted in 2021 with 13 restaurants, in 2022 the Michelin Green Stars have become 30 and today in the new edition of the Michelin 2023 Stars they are even 49. They praise those who demonstrate their green character, and by browsing the Guide there are 32 in the North, 10 in the Center and 7 in Southern Italy. Leading the ranking are Lombardy and Veneto with 8 green stars each, the autonomous province of Bolzano also doing well with 5 winners followed by that of Sondrio. Going down to the islands, they can celebrate the Aeolian Islands that are becoming increasingly green with 2 stars, that of Signum, the restaurant of the eponymous boutique hotel in Salina, and I Tenerumi within the Therasia Resort in Vulcano.
