CLASSY Wines, the new project by ‘Madame Mimma Posca’

Classy Wines

Mimma Posca, founder of CLASSY Wines, presents her new exciting project dedicated to great wines and refined champagne labels
It arises from the need to tell extraordinary stories, where the union between man’s passion and the territory gives life to products
that make every taste experience unique.

She tells it exclusively to HotelmyPassion, with all her charm

You could listen to her for hours: Mimma Posca is truly an expert in the field of oenology, especially in the luxury beverage segment. She is a beautiful woman, of great class and gentle manners. Her stories about great wines and champagne highlight a great preparation. But not only! They are so passionate, and meticulous in detail that she, in a matter of minutes, manages to captivate all who listen to her forever.

Mimma Posca, better known as ‘Madame Posca’, is a point of reference for those who work in the world of luxury winemaking: she is known for her passion for fine wines and her ability to discover precious gems and disclose them to others.

The philosophy of CLASSY Wines and Madame Mimma Posca is summed up in this sentence: “Wine is a form of art, it is truth as an authentic expression of the work of man who lovingly interprets the fruit of the territory that time gives back in gift”.

After a rich and intense professional career and collaborations with prestigious Champagne Maisons, she presents herself today as an entrepreneur.
HotelmyPassion met her to hear about CLASSY Wines, the new ambitious project

HMYP: CLASSY Wines, a new project with a name that undoubtedly reflects its personality. Tell us about it?

M.P.: CLASSY Wines was born from the evolution of my professional and personal journey that began many years ago. Almost by chance I took my first steps in the wine sector and discovered what, for me, later turned out to be a vocation. The culture of Italian wine, the vineyards and cellars that have been handed down for generations have involved me in an increasingly in-depth research of everything related to the world of wine. And then the transition to another type of drinking culture was natural: champagne. The pursuit of excellence made my preparation cross paths with the Maison Vranken Pommery which entrusted me with the opening of the Italian branch. Other important experiences followed in the importation and distribution of prestigious wineries. These new paths have accelerated the intention of starting an entrepreneurial project. So today I introduce myself with a new role, that of importer and distributor of wines and champagne. CLASSY Wines was born from the desire to tell wines with a great personality, those labels linked to centuries-old stories and lands where unique vines grow; this mingling of history and land gives wines of a qualitative depth such as to allow sensory and gustatory experiences that pleasantly surprise. But also to reveal little-known details. In fact, behind every label there are families who over the centuries have created undisputed realms of wine production. Thanks to years of career in the wine industry, I am highly respected in the world of importing and selecting high quality wines from various wine regions of the globe. My passion for the sector and my dedication have allowed me to deepen my knowledge and to develop a unique sensitivity towards taste experiences. I am proud to offer an exceptional selection of refined labels that are able to satisfy even the most demanding palates, bringing authentic emotions through every sip.”

HMYP: You are a refined woman, with a profound connoisseur of the world of champagne and bien vivre: what won you over about the brands you decided to import?

M.P.: The intent is to tell the terroir, the vineyard and the author, the one who skilfully creates each wine, and interprets it following the rules of tradition but also of his intuitions. The “journey” begins in Champagne and then winds through Bordeaux and continues in Italy, from Friuli to Montalcino.
The Maison Chanoine Frères owns the Tsarine brand and belongs to the BCC-Lanson Group, today the second largest Champagne producer in the world. Tsarine is a Champagne with an unmistakable style, the Chef de Cave is Isabelle Tellier, one of the first women to obtain such an important role within a Maison. From Champagne we then move on to Bordeaux, a region steeped in the history and culture of classy wine. Château Kirwan is a place of the soul, where since 1700 there has been a production of Margaux, a red that releases hints of spices, vanilla and pink pepper. I arrived in Italy thanks to Luca Gardini, landing in San Guglielmo, an estate in Montalcino, the beating heart of Brunello production, led by Ilaria Martini, descendant of one of the founders of the Brunello Consortium. And then in Friuli the vineyards of the Danieli family have been producing excellent wine since 1890. Today the winery is led by Marina Danieli, who in the Buttrio cellar, the cradle of the Friulian grand cru, offers two great wines, the Friulano Tocai Rap di Buri and the Pinot Grigio Ramato Salaì, two labels designed and produced exclusively for Classy Wines.

HMYP: A grand presentation for CLASSY Wines which took place at the DaV of CityLife. An event that sees the consolidation of the link with the Cerea family of the three-starred Da Vittorio restaurant. Are there any projects in progress?

M.P.: I chose DaV because I have a close bond of affection with the Cerea family, always present in all the most important events I have organized in the past. And now, as in the future, they will be present in projects that I am going to implement with CLASSY Wines. The Tsarine champagne will be the flagship of the great RistoGolf event whose motto is “Playing golf, eating well, drinking well and a great desire to have fun”. It was conceived by the Patron of Da Vittorio Enrico Cerea together with the professional golf master Dario Colloi. And it is a great honor for me to be able to present this great champagne in a high-class setting. For Chanoine Frères instead I thought of another type of throw, very particular and unique. This is Street Food So Chic in collaboration with Venditti Food. We will propose the combination with Champagne Chanoine 1730, the second oldest champagne house, with Reserve Privée, in perfect pairing with the Queen of Street Food, the Porchetta Campione d’Italia by Venditti Food. Two products that seem so distant from a gastronomic point of view, but which are capable of creating an exceptional blend.

HMYP: CLASSY Wines positions itself as an importer and distributor. What is your positioning strategy?

M.P.: Wine is drunk at the table: starting from this assumption, CLASSY Wines will distribute the wine through a sales network in restaurants and hotels. Wine at the table is sharing, it is the element that unites and makes spending time around a table pleasant. In addition, if it is accompanied by culinary excellence, then it turns into an experience like no other, because it brings people to a superior knowledge of some wines which transforms a convivial moment into a pleasant memory and possibly to be repeated.
The “journey” of Classy Wines is in continuous exploration, soon the Barbaresco Docg of Azienda Agricola Quazzolo, the Chianti Classico of the Nardi Company, the Fiano di Avellino Docg of Tenuta Sarno 1860 and the best Family Wines from Etna Statella.
