Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer: the commitment to sustainability is growing

Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer

Already committed for over ten years to a more sustainable and responsible luxury, Monte-Carlo Société Des Bains De Mer has signed the fourth internal charter “Go Sustainable”. The Group is therefore committed to carrying out twenty-two concrete actions by 2026 to confirm itself as the sustainable and responsible reference point for the great art of living

Monte-Carlo Société Des Bains De Mer has believed and invested in sustainable luxury tourism for years. In fact, since 2008, the Group has planned a first series of actions, to be implemented within 5 years, with a view to more responsible luxury. Thus was born Go Sustainable, the first environmental map of S.B.M.

To achieve it, the company’s employees organized themselves into different Green Teams. Fourteen years and many successes later, S.B.M. boasts 11 Green Teams and signs its fourth charter, mobilizing all its interlocutors (employees, suppliers and customers).

Go Sustainable 2022-2026

Given the acceleration on some issues, the new charter updates the commitments of the S.B.M. to achieve the goal set by the government for 2030. While pursuing the actions undertaken, priority is given to 22 actions along 4 lines:

1 Management of actions in the field of Sustainable

Development Integrated policy in the strategy of S.B.M. – sustainable IT entrusted to the IT Office, responsible purchasing by the Purchasing Office, use of renewable energy by the Infrastructure Office above all. How? involving all employees and all figures of the S.B.M. Group, extending training in Sustainable Development to all company functions.

2 Communication with customers and stakeholders

To better anticipate expectations and meet the CO2 emission reduction targets, communication must be more frequent and transparent, to raise awareness of customers and suppliers. We need to offer customers new, more sustainable experiences.

3 Decarbonization

To reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, the S.B.M. aims at a reduction of between 4% and 5% per year, setting a -45% of direct emissions by 2026. The decarbonisation interventions concern: purchases, electric mobility and circular economy (reuse of materials and components). Space then to: reduction of waste at the source, greater use of renewable energy and control of the digital impact with a dedicated plan.

4 Enhancement and protection of the natural heritage

The emphasis is on conserving drinking water resources and eliminating any replaceable dangerous product. Furthermore, on the correct management of the end of life of products, with waste recovery in optimized and specialized supply chains, and on the sponsorship of local actions and projects dedicated to biodiversity.
