Villa Igiea, the ‘Grand Hotel’ shines again thanks to Rocco Forte Hotels

This is truly a legendary hotel, a masterpiece of Art Nouveau style, an icon of elegance and style.
It overlook the Gulf of Palermo and its charisma has seduced the most important European families.
Today Villa Igiea reopens its doors and becomes the sixth property of Rocco Forte Hotels

Villa Igiea is for sure one of the most waited openings of 2021 as we already anticipated in a previous article.

For all ‘Hotel Lover’ enthusiasts the news of the reopening of this jewel of hospitality is a joy.

The important renovation project lasted two years and required a huge commitment but it was worth it because it allowed Villa Igiea to shine again with a new and captivating look.

The architectural grandeur of the Palace and its Belle Époque atmosphere are embellished today thanks to the refined design, and the sober tones of the interior and the elegance of the interior, characteristic elements of all Rocco Forte’s hotels.

Shapes, colors, materials that combine with each other giving life to a unicum of exceptional beauty.

Completely renovated by Olga Polizzi, Deputy Chairman & Design Director of Rocco Forte Hotels, in collaboration with architects Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen of Nicholas Haslam Studios, Villa Igiea is the ideal starting point to discover sicily’s priceless cultural heritage.

The splendid five-star luxury designed by architect Ernesto Basile at the behest of the Florio family, represents the sixth destination of the Rocco Forte Hotels Group in Italy.

Villa Igiea is an extraordinary palace, an icon of elegance and style just as its original owner, Franca Florio, was: a lady of great charm with a strong sense of hospitality. The Hotel has been the symbolic place of the city of Palermo for over 100 years hosting artists, emperors and the Hollywood elite, kidnapped by the wonders of Sicily. I am very proud to be part of the history of this extraordinary hotel and to have had the opportunity to bring it back to its original splendor“, comments Sir Rocco Forte, President of Rocco Forte Hotels.

Villa Igiea overlooks the Gulf of Palermo and its location offers guests, from the rooms and common areas, enchanting views. The large sky-earth windows allow light to fill the interior spaces and reveal wonderful views of the Tyrrhenian Sea in a succession of exciting images.

The Florio Restaurant, the Terrazza Bar Igiea and Alicetta Pool Bar are led by Chef Fulvio Pierangelini and his team who bring to the table the excellence of Sicilian cuisine enhancing the wealth of native products of the region. Each place tells the delicious story of “a simple but not simplistic, true, sincere and free cuisine; respect for the small daily gestures that perfect the millenary culinary art of the island by creating wonders au gout du jour; a cuisine that smells like family, generous and feminine”, says Fulvio Pierangelini, Creative Director of Food at Rocco Forte Hotels.

The restaurant welcomes guests in an elegant and light atmosphere, refined and fun typical of a Grand Hotel by the sea.

The Terrazza Bar Igiea – suspended between the botanical garden and the Mediterranean – and the internal room embellished with vaulted stone ceilings and wonderful frescoes by the Palermo artist Eugenio (Geno) Morici offer an eclectic space destined to establish itself as a meeting point of local and international cultures.

The cocktail card “Spirit of Igiea” is designed by Maestro Salvatore Calabrese, one of the most dedicated bartenders in the world, inspired by Sicilian fragrances and illustrious guests who honored the hotel.

The Launch Offer celebrating the reopening of Villa Igiea includes:

  • 20% reduction on room cost
  • Daily breakfast
  • Free transfer to and from palermo airport/train station for those who book one of the George V, Igiea or Donna Franca Suites
