Relaxing holidays in the countryside for this summer: stays in the nature of the Collio Goriziano at Castello di Spessa Golf Wine Resort & SPA

This summer the holiday is country and green, in nature and away from the crowds. In this way you can enjoy absolute relaxation. An ideal holiday with family and friends in the green countryside between walks, movement en plein air and good food.

In the Collio Goriziano, the Castello di Spessa Golf Wine Resort & SPA in Capriva del Friuli is a microcosm surrounded by the vineyards and the green of an 18-hole golf course. In fact, the resort offers the possibility of staying in 4 structures, each with its own well-defined style. In the castle you can spend the night in airy and spacious rooms and suites furnished with Italian and Central European eighteenth and nineteenth century furniture. The other rooms of the resort are located in expertly restored old cottages on the estate: La Tavernetta al Castello at the foot of the manor with an excellent and refined gourmand restaurant and 10 rooms with a country atmosphere; the Apartments in the vineyards in a beautiful farmhouse overlooking the golf course, particularly suitable for families; the Casale in the hills, the most secluded, with a dozen rooms furnished in a shabby chic style.

The heart of the resort is the castle of medieval origin with its magnificent Italian garden. Here they hosted Giacomo Casanova (who defined the wines as “of excellent quality”) and Lorenzo Da Ponte, Mozart’s librettist. All around, the gentle ups and downs of vineyards, woods, meadows that extend over more than 60 hectares of the estate.

Guests have access to comfortable walking paths, spaces where they can do gymnastics and yoga in the open air, the 18-hole golf course designed among the vineyards. Then there are bicycles to pedal in relaxation to discover the characteristic villages of Slovenian Brda. 2,000 square meters of Vinum Spa with treatments dedicated to wine therapy, heated indoor and outdoor pools, panoramic relaxation areas, an outdoor circular hydromassage overlooking the vineyards.

The surroundings are all worth visiting, a treasure trove of art and history: Cormòns, a central European town “heart” of the Collio; Gorizia, the “Nice of Austria” with its austere medieval castle; Cividale, whose Lombard testimonies are Unesco World Heritage; Aquileia, Second Rome and main archaeological site in Northern Italy; Grado, with its long beach of fine sand and its enchanting lagoon; the historical paths of the Great War – from Gorizia to the Redipuglia memorial to the Carso – where you can discover trenches, bunkers and places that were the scene of battle during the First World War. And in half an hour you are in Trieste and in just over an hour in Venice.

Guided tastings of the estate’s fine Doc Collio and Isonzo wines are organized for guests in the spectacular medieval cellars of the castle. In the Hunting House, cooking classes held by the Executive Chef of the Tonino Venica. The chef is at the helm of the gourmand restaurant La Tavernetta al Castello. In the Gusto di Casanova, the Bistrot del Castello, you can taste an extraordinary selection of products from Friuli Venezia Giulia. In the Hosteria of the Castle; the cuisine follows the seasons and follows the flavors of the territory.
