An event full of tradition, with international artists and institutional guests, celebrated the reopening of the Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern. The elegant hotel located in the center of Lucerne now welcomes new guests with a renewed design that mixes with the charm of the Belle Époque

If you are planning a visit to the charming Swiss city of Lucerne, the new address to choose is Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern. In fact, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group hotel has just reopened after a major renovation.

The inauguration was a very suggestive event. The ceremony was attended by Grammy Award winning mezzo, Cecilia Bartoli – Mandarin Oriental Fan. Also present were General Manager Christian Wildhaber, his Excellency the Chinese Ambassador Shi Ting Wang, Lijun Yu, Director of Hans Holding, the company that owns the hotel. Finally, Fanziska Bitzi, City Councilor of Lucerne and other senior members of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
The celebration paid tribute to the idyllic Swiss resort with traditional alpine horns, flag-wavers and famous St. Bernard dogs. The group’s oriental heritage is also celebrated. In fact, there was a live performance of the Lion Dance, an ancient Chinese propitiatory dance performed to bring luck and prosperity.

Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern is located on the shores of the lake, a stone’s throw from the historic center, overlooking the Swiss Alps. 
The renovation was handled by local architects Iwan Bühler Architekten and London-based interior designers Jestico + Whiles. The design is contemporary, inspired by the beauty of the Swiss landscapes, while preserving the history of the building.

The property features 136 elegant and spacious rooms – 48 are suites, among the largest in Lucerne – 4 restaurants and bars under the direction of star chef Gilad Peled, a spa and elegant event spaces.

To celebrate the opening, the hotel is offering 2 packages. Starting at CHF 700 per night, the offers include a stay in the elegant lake view rooms or spacious suites, a rich breakfast for two, a credit of CHF 100 (CHF 150 for the suites) for the F&B service, and a range of unique experiences to discover the destination.

The building, which dates back to 1906, includes 136 rooms and suites. It offers a wide range of culinary proposals. For example, Mozern Brasserie & Bar, open all day; Quai 10, to eat outside on the terrace; Colonnade, where you can enjoy contemporary French haute cuisine, and a Japanese restaurant with only 6 seats that offers omakase-style cuisine (Colonnade and the Japanese restaurant will open in the first quarter of 2023). A large wellness and fitness area and the Bellefontaine SPA are also available to guests. Finally, it includes 4 rooms, including the Alpine Salon with original decorative elements from the hotel’s historical past. They are ideal for private and professional events.
