A true icon of Italian and international hospitality, the iconic Rome Cavalieri celebrated the 60th anniversary of its opening with events that admirably highlighted the elegance, refinement and excellence of a hotel that had the extraordinary ability to renew itself, always keeping up with the times, and constantly maintaining its leadership in the world of luxury hotels

A starred dinner by Heinz Beck at La Pergola, prepared by 6 hands in collaboration with 2 other starred chefs, 10 courses for 60 guests.

And a gala evening by the pool with a Sixties theme revisited in a contemporary mood. These were the key events with which Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel has just celebrated 60 years.

Furthermore, on the occasion of this important birthday, some special graphics have been created.

Inspired by the wonderful 60s, they accompany each department of the hotel with a cheerful and elegant visual for the entire duration of the anniversary.

The Gala Evening

Alessandro Cabella, Managing Director of Rome Cavalieri and Hilton Area General Manager Italy, together with Simon Vincent, Executive Vice President and President of Europe Middle East and Africa, Hilton, welcomed the participants for an evening full of emotions, surprises and gastronomic experiences.

In a magical setting, surrounded by the naturalistic beauty of the hotel’s exclusive Mediterranean park with the suggestive panorama of Rome from above, almost 300 highly selected guests enjoyed a refined and delicious gala dinner and an event by the pool glamor with Swinging Sixties atmospheres.

After the aperitif and the welcome by Director Cabella, the evening continued with dinner.

The story of an Icon

The Rome Cavalieri, then known as the Rome Cavalieri Hilton, opened its doors to international travelers in June 1963. It was inaugurated by Conrad Hilton himself.

It immediately established itself as the point of reference for a high-level clientele who saw Rome as a popular destination and a city to visit and love.

The building that houses it was born from a project signed by the archistar of the moment Ugo Luccichenti in which Nervi also participated, but without appearing, for the part concerning the calculation of the reinforced concrete.

Instead the interior decoration was entrusted to another famous designer, Franco Albini. He built a luxurious hotel, while respecting the canons of linearity and minimalism in vogue at the time.

The hotel, while maintaining the original structure, has over time been enriched with a private art collection unique in the world and a restaurant – La Pergola, still the only 3 Michelin star in Rome.

Not only. Today Rome Cavalieri hosts a selection of refined suites and one of the most advanced congress centers in a luxury hotel in Europe.

Leader in luxury hospitality

In its 60-year history it has hosted international celebrities, heads of state, official delegations and highly confidential summits.

The scene of important world events, it was the headquarters of sporting events and the location of numerous films by various authors and nationalities. Last but not least, it saw the birth of love between celebrities who then happily married.

The list of events of these 60 years is truly long and rich.

In fact, the Rome Cavalieri has had the extraordinary ability to renew itself, always keeping up with the times, and constantly maintaining its leadership in the world of luxury hospitality.

To this day, the hotel is synonymous with excellent services, beauty of the spaces and highly professional team.

Not only. It also remains at the forefront of the most important current issues, first of all sustainability. In fact, it has achieved the coveted Green Key certification, obtained for four consecutive years.
