Grand Hotel Kronenhof unveils new charming rooms

Grand Hotel Kronenhof

The magnificent and luxurious Grand Hotel Kronenhof is ready to welcome travelers passionate about glamor in 15 new rooms and suites designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon interior design

With its baroque architecture it seems straight out of a fairy tale and its new 15 rooms and suites are also fairytale. The historic 5-star Grand Hotel Kronenhof in Pontresina has in fact entrusted the restyling of the rooms to the famous interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, who was already the creator of the restyling of the sister property Kulm Hotel St. Moritz and of some of the finest hotels in the world.

The result? A tribute to the perfection of beauty and the values of the territory.

Contemporary elegance

Grand Hotel Kronenhof

The new rooms are located in the historic wing of the hotel, dating back to the late nineteenth century. They are characterized by a contemporary atmosphere played on soft colors that reflect the surrounding landscape.

The choice of materials was also inspired by the long history of the hotel and the natural characteristics of the destination. The gray granite used for the bathroom finishes, for example, originates from Bregaglia, a village less than an hour’s drive from Pontresina. The geometric patterned cork wallpaper used in the walk-in closets, on the other hand, imitates the “sgraffiti” decorations of historic Engadine houses.

And the fir lamps in the living areas recall the local coniferous forests.

Pure grand hotel style

Grand Hotel Kronenhof

The floors of the rooms on the first floor feature oak wood as the protagonist in homage to the original flooring found in the common areas of the hotel. On the upper floors, however, the use of carpet makes the rooms quieter. Black and white photographs of the region and specially created Alpine motif paintings adorn the walls. The final result are refined and bright environments, perfectly combining the style of a grand hotel and the most modern comforts.

Future projects
The new rooms are part of the modernization project signed by Pierre-Yves Rochon started in 2016 which also saw the restyling of the Play & SmokersLounge on the ground floor last winter. During the next seasonal break, a further phase of the works is planned. It will cover the lobby, reception and bar which will be revealed in time for the 2021/22 winter season.
