Mixing and the Italian bar industry have their Oscars and they are those of 110 cum laude and Order of Merit.
The coveted awards were awarded on 19 and 20 November at the Grand Hotel Billia in Saint Vincent.

In fact, on the “Riviera of the Alps” on November 20th, an exciting and refined evening paid homage to the excellence of the most elegant and refined scene of Italian industry.

An exceptional jury awarded Giovanni Onori of the Bulgari Hotel in Rome the title of Champion of 110 cum laude.

Onori won the invitational competition open only to representatives of 5-star hotels. The contest saw 39 representatives of the most important hotel bars in Italy compete.

For example Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, St Regis and several others, from north to south of the peninsula.

Furthermore, the competition involved exceptional hotels such as the Posta in Cortina (special invitation “legendary venue”), through the W in Rome up to Portrait Milano just to name a few.

With his “Haiku”, Giovanni effectively represented the philosophy of experience that the Bulgari Bar wants to convey to every single guest. At Bulgari the details complete a service that goes beyond the drink, however refined and refined. And it is presented on the platform with distilled gin, cordial with mandarin and sansho pepper and a very particular sparkling wine foam.

Onori proposed his cocktail, shake & strain, to the jury in a double old fashioned, served with mandarin zest, chocolate signed by Niko Romito. And embellished with a perfect serve in full Bulgari style.

In second place Alessio Lupo from Le Sirenuse in Positano. Third, on equal merit but slightly lower in taste, was Simone Marcolegio from the Park Hyatt in Milan.

The exceptional judges were Alessandro Orzes, of whiskeyjugs.it, Antonio Ferrara, bar manager of the Aman Venice and champion of the 2022 edition of 110 cum laude and Shane Eaton, cocktail columnist, among others, for Class Magazine and Drinks International, as well as patron of @cocktailpilgrim

The following technically supported the event: Calvisius, Cesarini Sforza, Flamigni e Aperitivo Italiano, Fonte Plose, Mottura Vini del Salento, PeB Line, Piazza Effebi, Red Bull and The Organics by Red Bull, Trabo, Toso and Sirman. While they promoted the Order of Merit, 110 cum laude and their intentions with great energy and involvement: Alpex by Plose, Bonaventura Maschio, Bordiga 1888, Bottega, Brown Forman, Caffo 1915 Group, Campari Group, Compagnia dei Caribbean, Mountain Distilleries Saint Roch – Levi – Ottoz, Enoglam, Gamondi, Pallini, Poli 1898, Psenner, Rinaldi 1957, Rossi d’Angera, Soero Gin, Stock Italia with Beam Suntory, Vodka Silla and Velier with Brugal and Flor de Caña.

The Order of Merit ceremony and the 110 cum laude competition were broadcast live by Strixia, on the official channels of the two events. Real multimedia testimonies available over time, because if on the one hand with Order of Merit we want to highlight those women and men who today we can define as real “lighthouses” of reference for the young generations of bartenders and for future hospitality professionals,

110 cum laude, aims above all to be, for the world of bars, a reference manifesto for those values of Italian hospitality that have always been recognized internationally as cornerstones of hospitality.

This year too, Spiridione Ripaldi, a prominent and highly competent master of ceremonies, will be conducting and artistic direction. The best of the best of bar excellence in Italy, together once again.

The appointment, with many new features already in the pipeline, is already for 2024.
Be ready.
