FORESTIS, how to turn your holiday into a green and wellness experience

FORESTIS, a new hotel member of the Healing Hotels of the World, is going to open in May in Italy, in the mountains of South Tyrol.
The main focus of this refuge is on wellness and green hospitality.

A new hotel set to open in May in the mountains of South Tyrol (Italy) will be the newest member of the Healing Hotels of the World. FORESTIS is located 1,800 meters above sea level near Brixen in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Dolomites.

The main building was built in the early 20th century by the architect Otto Wagner, who designed it for the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.

Today, the hotel is protected as a historical monument, and the clean air, the exceptionally pure water, wild forests, and a sunny Alpine climate make it an ideal location for healing.

Until 1922 it served as a refuge for war veterans, in 2007, after falling into disuse for several years, the building was discovered by the hotelier Alois Hinteregger during one of his many walks on the Plose, a beautiful place often called ‘the gateway to heaven’.

He opened it as a hotel in 2009 and now, a decade later, a new chapter is beginning. In a few months FORESTIS will open, a refuge that in the name expresses the solitary location in the mountain forest that takes guests into a world whose greatest luxury is its tranquillity.

They can find balance and relax and have a break from their daily routine thanks to the hard work of Mr. Hinteregger, his son Stefan and Stefan’s partner Teresa.

FORESTIS, green hospitality

Armin Sader of the Brixen-based hotel architecture firm Asaggio is responsible for the architectural concept, which emphasizes the isolated location and the connection with the nature.

FORESTIS will have 62 suites furnished using local materials and, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, every guest will have a view of the stunning scenery of the Dolomites.

Winter or summer, the effect is spectacular since each space has been studied to better soak up the energy of the mountains and enjoy the peaceful silence.

This hotel has been created to foster holistic regeneration and wellbeing, for this reason spa body and facial treatments, multi-day healing retreats, and outdoor activities such as yoga, meditation, hiking and ski-in/ski-out experiences, connect guests directly to the nature.

Regarding the culinary offer, the hosts and their head chef Roland Lamprecht will offer a unique cuisine that is attuned to the health of human body. Several products are sourced from farms and producers set in that area .

The concept is to offer customized chosen experiences able to touch the heart of guests and continue to live with them when they will be back home again. For FORESTIS, joining Healing Hotels of the World means to drive home the core message about healing through nature.
