el patio del gaucho

El Patio del Gaucho, Javier Zanetti, is the Argentinian restaurant of the Sheraton Milan San Siro which bears the signature of the football legend Zanetti

El Patio del Gaucho is the first restaurant opened in Milan by the former Inter captain Javier Zanetti inside a hotel. And the natural choice was the Sheraton Milan San Siro, one of the most glamorous hotels in the Milanese city.

El patio del Gaucho restaurant

Located on the ground floor of the Milanese hotel and overlooking the lush garden that surrounds it, the restaurant is a mix of tradition and contemporary style. The warm and welcoming atmosphere is inspired by the Argentine land: materials such as slate, wood and leather, which come together in a symphony of textures and textures.

During the summer guests can dine on the garden terrace which the steakhouse overlooks. The restaurant can be reached in a few minutes from the center of Milan and there is a large free car park at guests’ disposal. Inside the room, however, the scene is dominated by a large wooden social table, which can accommodate up to 18 diners; this which helps to reinforce the message of the asado as a “companion food”.

The open kitchen is largely occupied by a large parilla grill for meat – the largest in Milan with its 2 meters in length and 1 in width. The atmosphere and the culinary offerings are inspired by the figures of the best asadors of the Pampas and their original techniques for processing the traditional cuts of Argentine meat.

The kitchen

The Executive Chef Giuseppe Guccione, in the company of the asador of El Patio del Gaucho, Alexander Huayanay Villarreal, leads the kitchen brigade and the restaurant. There is of course the parrilla, the large grill on which the best cuts of the finest meats are religiously cooked, respecting the most deeply rooted local traditions. An innovative Josper charcoal oven cooks a rich selection of fish, shellfish and vegetables.

Among the main dishes, the typical fried empanadas filled with both meat and vegetables stand out. There are grilled provoletas with various condiments and platters of fine cured meats such as Pata Negra accompanied by the more local fried dumplings. There is no shortage of fish dishes, Anchoas, Cantabrian anchovies with green sauce, bread with ancient grains, flavored butter. This is followed by Pulpo alla Parilla, and vegan dishes such as Verdulero, a mosaic of vegetables in carpaccio, marinated in lime.

The spearhead of the menu is the asado, Argentine meat, with and without bone, cooked on the grill. This is accompanied by sauces such as chimichurri or Malbec sauce. Another specialty is the Parrillada el Patio del Gaucho, or the mixed grill for two people: beef ribs, diaphragm, sirloin, sausage. To accompany dinner, a selection of cocktails such as the Cóctel de Mate, with Ron blanco, hierba mate, agave, Malbec. Many wines, with a preponderance of Argentinian labels. Among these Argentine Javier Zanetti Malbec, Botega Noemia, Michella Rolland Mariflor, Saurus.

The kitchen also offers a wide range of small plates to share for the moment of the Argentine Aperitif, every day from 18.00. Finally, every Sunday, El Patio del Gaucho offers the rich Sunday Brunch: Asado del Domingo. A moment of sharing for friends and families.
