If you love family sagas. If you want to discover the fascinating stories of entrepreneurial excellence, the book to read is “The light I didn’t tell you – The Puglia of Masseria San Domenico”.

This is the story of the Melpignano family, creator of the creation of a symbol of Apulian luxury hospitality: Masseria San Domenico. A jewel part of the San Domenico Group.

The plot of the book
A sleepy summer day, everyone is asleep. Silently Lina goes to the beach, it’s her twenty-second birthday. Despite the war, the joy “is to arrive in the absolute quiet of Cala Masciola and acrobat by the sea, take flight with thoughts, go far away”.

Here she finds a shell and a coin that appear to contain an omen, or perhaps a promise. Carlos Solito starts from afar to tell a family story that is also the story of a remnant of Puglia.

A plain of surreal olive trees sculpted over the centuries, a soft coast, “a syntax of golden beaches and exotic seabeds, Roman consular roads and vestiges, prehistoric dolmens and frescoed caves”.

This is where the vision of Marisa Lisi and Sergio Melpignano takes place. It is the year 1980, they return to the ancient watchtower lost in the Mediterranean scrub. Five years later Masseria San Domenico has returned to its former glory. But that’s not enough, Marisa imagines, she sees something that isn’t there: “Why don’t we open this place to guests? … Everyone will love our Puglia “.
