Celebrating the festivities at the Principe di Savoia

Another special appointment approaches this year at Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan to celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year in the best possible manner.

For gourmets
Start with Sunday Brunch which, incidentally, until 24 December, will be delighting the kiddies with the Christmas biscuits they themselves will help to make in the dining hall. All for € 65 per person (adults) including a glass of Champagne, € 35 for children aged between six and twelve, and free of charge for children under six. Then continue – the appointment is daily from 4 pm to 7 pm in the Salon of the Lobby Bar – with Christmas Tea, the exclusive Principe di Savoia “Blue Black” blend created by Tea Stylist Francesca Natali, which unites only the buds of black tea with white tea and an addition of cornflowers, served with the special Principe Cheesecake (priced at € 20 per person). Christmas Eve Dinner? The brilliant executive chef Fabrizio Cadei and his brigade will be preparing a Seafood Mosaic with oyster leaves, ginger dressing, radish sprouts and citrus fruit pearls; Grumolo delle Abbadesse rice with pumpkin cream, creamed salt cod and black truffle-flavoured butter from S.Pietro al Pettine; then Amberjack steak with a hazelnut crust, Dijon mustard and blood orange sauce. This will be followed by a nougat parfait with bitter chocolate coulis and nutmeg and, of course, the traditional Principe di Savoia Panettone, served with chocolate and Grand Marnier sauces, coffee and Christmas petits fours, nougat, tangerines and dried fruit. The Christmas Eve Dinner costs € 95 per person, with a complementary flûte of Durello Lessini Brut 2005 – Marcato (wines not included). And to end the year in style in a magical atmosphere, the New Year’s Eve Dinner offers a welcome cocktail with Tsarskaya oysters and cold canapés; Mediterranean ‘Balfegò’ tuna tartare with lime sauce and Kaluga Amur caviar dressing, fennel velouté, Sicilian red prawns, sorrel and mullet roe; then Breton lobster “Thermidor”-style, black Venere rice, crispy Jerusalem artichokes and soybean sprouts. This will be followed by Irish beef Tournedos with coffee panure, artichoke flan, stuffed potato and parsnip cream. Dessert will consist of a selection of chocolates with exotic fruit and red fruit coulis, coffee, nougat and candied fruit. Finally, at midnight, as is traditional, Mantua ‘cotechino’ (pork sausage) served with Ustica lentils. All for € 365 per person, including wines; Champagne or Sparkling wine for toasting the New Year not included.
