A fairy-tale evening. The De Santis family, owners of the luxury hotel, and their guests celebrated 108 years of that which, ever since its opening in 1910, has stood as the unchallenged symbol of the most exclusive hôtellerie on Lake Como: Grand Hotel Tremezzo.
Under the glittering lights, the party exalted the refined elegance of every corner of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, from the T Beach right on the lakefront, where the guests sampled the inimitable perlage of Pommery champagne with Apanage Blanc de Blancs, the elegant and refined 100% Chardonnay that is the latest arrival from Maison Pommery, to the T Bar for Bellini and Rossini cocktails.
Supper, too, is a tribute to classic and contemporary Italian taste. A dialogue, La Terrazza restaurant and its saffron and gold risotto, a masterpiece by Gualtiero Marchesi, is re-proposed by Osvaldo Presazzi, executive chef of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. Two other gourmet occasions are at L’Escale with tastings of regional products, from the finest wines to the cheeses from the mountains around Lake Como, and at T Pizza, for a sparkling mix of pizza and spritzers. And at the climax of the party, everyone heads for T Beach and let’s celebrate: the sky is ablaze with fireworks and when the last flash ignites the air, 108 candles light up on a spectacular cake, and are accompanied by the large format Pommery Grand Cru Millesimè, created only in the greatest vintages.
