About Consorzio Turistico Media Valtellina

Consorzio Turistico Media Valtellina is the organization that deals with promoting tourism and economic development in the municipalities in the district of Tirano and Media Valtellina. A perfect meeting point of nature, history, flavours and traditions, the territory is the crossroads between Upper and Lower Valtellina, but also between Switzerland and Valcamonica on the North-South route. This area of Valtellina has been called “Terziere Superiore” since ancient times and it encompasses 12 municipalities strung out along the heart of the Valtellina, from Teglio and Aprica to Grosio passing through Tirano. The valley is rich in history and ethnicity, food-and-wine culture and traditions, and it offers winter and summer tourism localities of great prestige, as well as hamlets that are less well known but of equal charm, guaranteeing tourists an experience in a unique destination. Tirano is also famous for being the terminus of the “Bernina Little Red Train”, which was declared a world heritage feature by UNESCO on 7 July 2008. It is part of the International Network of Cities where Living is Good, and it has obtained certification as a “slow city” thanks to the quality of its welcome, its tutelage of historic, artistic and natural features, and its fine dining.
