Sereno Resort reopens today, May 6th. For the new season, it presents great news and a new exclusive Penthouse Suite, a totally unique concept but in line with the design language of the five-star. The suite is the result of the evolution of the concept of luxury hotels on Lake Como, according to Il Sereno Hotels. Wanted by hotelier Luis Contreras and designed by Patricia Urquiola, it is designed to guarantee that privacy and elegance that is the distinctive feature of the brand in the Caribbean.
The new Penthouse Suite is located in a building adjacent to the hotel, and it’s only accessible by a separate elevator and spread over nearly 150 square meters of living space, including a 30-square-meter terrace and a 50-square-meter grass garden around the perimeter.
Its design is timeless with a strong sense of place and the use of local natural materials. For guests: a large living room, dining room, two bathrooms, master bedroom and a second room for four people. From all rooms, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the lake.
The interior is inspired by the classic post-war Italian glamour, ‘La Dolce Vita’. The choice of furniture is a tribute to the emblematic pieces of Italian design, the tradition of their production and the architecture of the post-war years. The distinctive touch is given by the combination with the design pieces made to measure by Patricia Urquiola, The Penthouse features innovative materials such as fantastic Canaletto walnut ceilings, Green Alps and Gre stump stone walls, local stone floors. Venetian terrazzo floors are combined with geometric tiles by Ceppo for a new and classic look.
The bedroom wall is also made of Stump and has been specially grooved to provide additional texture. The archistar also used the local stone: the rich green stone “Verdi Alpi” was chosen to cover the walls of the room. The protagonist is the precious silk that is celebrated inside the Penthouse Suite. The silks created by Urquiola decorative cushions, scarves and other products that are also for sale inside the structure. The fabrics are inspired by the scarf of the 1950s with landscape motifs of Lake Como.
For the development of greenery, it was called the botanist French Patrick Blanc who developed the new façade under the suite.
Mr Blanc designed a living wall that will also be seen from the lake. A vegetable wall that comes in synergy with the façade of the building and the nearby Mirroir du Lac green installation.

Each work consists of thousands of different types of plants. To lovers of lake nautical tradition and privacy, Il Sereno offers the three boats created ad hoc by the Ernesto Riva Shipyard, local excellence since 1771.
