Millennium Hotels & Resorts
Millennium Hotels and Resorts was established as a global brand by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc a dynamic, global hotel company, which owns, asset manages and/or operates more than 100 hotels in 19 countries around the world, to provide a common marketing and operating platform across its entire portfolio.
In 1995 CDL Hotels International acquired the Copthorne group of hotels with properties in the UK, France and Germany (a brand that had been growing since the mid-1980s), in a deal valued at £219 million. Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc was floated in 1996 on the London Stock Exchange.
In Spring 1999 Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc purchased the majority hotel interests of its main shareholder, CDL Hotels International Ltd in South East Asia and Australasia, for a sum of £556million. In November 1999 the company acquired the Seoul Hilton in Korea for £140million and then in December 1999, the company acquired Regal Hotels in the USA for a sum of £395million. Expansion has continued throughout subsequent years with the addition of hotels in the Middle East, Asia and China. A land purchase in Tokyo in 2011 saw the development of our first hotel in Japan.
Millennium Hotels & Resorts comprises of seven brands: Millennium, Grand Millennium, Copthorne, Kingsgate, M Hotel, Studio M and the group’s latest concept M Social, which is planned to launch with new properties in Singapore, London & New York.
Millennium means “thousand”, and staying true to the company’s Asian origin, it is translated as “thousand happiness” in Chinese.
As a passionate hospitality group, the company is driven to create thousands of happy moments and memories for its guests. Every hotel employee is dedicated to providing consistent standards of excellence for business and leisure travellers alike.
M&C consist of a diverse portfolio of hotels with a myriad of offerings. None of the hotels are cookie-cutter. The local attributes, the key central locations and warm genuine service are the common threads that tie all the hotels together.
For those looking for premium service, many of the hotels have Club Lounges offering exclusive areas for guest staying in club accommodations to work, meet and relax. The Club Lounges offer daily continental breakfast, all day complimentary beverages, hors d’oeuvres and evening drinks.
