Cuisine is a cultural heritage
Ernesto Iaccarino, who is currently in charge of the kitchen, is following in the footsteps of his father Alfonso, ambassador of the Mediterranean Diet around the world. The School of Mediterranean Cookery was founded to spread and pass on cooking as a culinary and cultural heritage.
The cooking school
The courses are held every morning from Wednesday until Sunday. Each day is dedicated to discovering different foods, in which quality is the common denominator. And so there are seasonal vegetables from the Iaccarino’s farm, Le Peracciole, fish from the Amalfi Coast, pasta, fresh or handmade in nearby Gragnano and Torre Annunziata, meat from natural farms in Irpinia and in Beneventano. And to conclude, traditional and modern desserts showcase Neapolitan pastries.
More than a cooking lesson, the Don Alfonso 1890 cookery school is a thrilling experience. Guests can actually cook with Ernesto and his staff as they get to know the Mediterranean ingredients.
The atmosphere is unique; truly special. Amid colourful majolica tiles of Vietri and modern technologies, everybody chats and cooks together.
