The Leading Hotels of the World

The Leading Hotels of the World Ltd. is the most prestigious hotel organization in the world. It was established in 1928 by a group of far-sighted European entrepreneurs who targeted the affluent American tourist market under the name “Luxury Hotels in Europe and in Egypt”. It began with 38 associate hotels, including the Hotel Negresco in Nice, the Mena House in Cairo, and the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. Begun as an online booking service for independent hotels, The Leading Hotels of the World now provides integrated services to support various actions on behalf of its affiliates. These include: sales and marketing, advertising, public relations and financial services. It has implemented a quality control service involving undercover hotel inspections to verify the services in the associated structures. It is not a hotel chain, its member hotels are generally independent, even if some of the hotels are part of important chains. Since 2011, Andrea Kracht, owner of Baur au Lac in Zurich, has been the president of Hotel Representative AG, and Theodore (Ted) Teng has been the president and chief executive officer. At present, LHW avails of a network of 24 offices around the world.
